The Soto

The Soto, at the intersection of Broadway and Brooklyn in San Antonio, Texas is the first mass-timber office building in Texas. We had the opportunity to get in very early on the design phase of this project so seeing it develop through multiple phases was exciting. At the time of its construction it was the largest ‘timber construction” build in the state of Texas, to be a part of that was a unique experience. Engineering for the 4 story suspended Curtain Wall had its challenges but in the end it’s an excellent example of the capabilities of our industry.

Brownsville Airport

The expansion of the South Padre Island International Airport in Brownsville, Texas was one of our more extensive uses of “Sage glass”. This product works similarly to transition sunglasses that increase tint and decrease light transmission with sunlight.  The key difference is each pane of glass is electrified with all wiring running back to a dimmer wall switch that allows the user to increase or decrease the amount of tint. This takes training and communication with both the GC and electricians. We were asked to pursue this project out of town due to our extensive use, training and knowledge of this relatively new product.

Hotel Valencia Remodel

This project gave us a unique opportunity to see art work within our industry.  The architect used several custom patterned glass types and throughout this remodel and when it was completed we were delighted to be a part of the finished product.
